Safe Dog Shampoo – Review of the Top Brands

As a dog owner, I’m sure you want to use the best and safest products for your dog, don’t you? Statistics show that cancer accounts for nearly 50% of all disease-related pet deaths each year. Unfortunately, there are not many regulations on dog shampoo. Because of this many pet shampoos contain harmful cancer causing ingredients that are not mentioned on the label. This can make it difficult to choose a safe shampoo for your dog.

Dog shampoo manufacturers are very good at promoting their products. Some may even label them as being All Natural as a way to get you to buy their product. Let the truth be known, this in many cases is a false statement. Some of the ingredients may start out as being natural but after being processed they are far from their natural state. As a result, the mixture of these ingredients become toxic. That’s scary, isn’t it?

I want to help you keep your dog safe. In this article, you will learn what to look for when choosing your dog’s shampoo. Along with a review of the safest dog shampoos available today.

The Safe Alternative

Yes, you can purchase a dog shampoo with confidence and know that your furry friend will be safe from toxins. All you have to do is look for the words “Certified The USDA Certified Organic sealOrganic” on the label. Those two words guarantee that the product is 100% safe for you and your dog.

So what exactly is certified organic you ask? Allow me to explain.  The word organic is anything that is of natural matter or compounds with a carbon base. Organic is also anything grown, raised or made without using chemicals or synthetic pesticides. Certified Organic shampoo means audited naturally from farm to bottle. Every time you use anything that is certified organic you are also helping to protect the environment. Now that’s a good thing for everyone, isn’t it?

There will be several inspections done before a product can be labeled as being Certified Organic. To maintain a strict physical separation of organic products from non-certified products all the ingredients are constantly monitored. In other words, if any non-certified products are in the shampoo it can not be labeled as being certified organic. The facility must also pass regular strict inspections.

Furthermore, all the ingredients on a certified organic label will be pronounceable!

Prepare Yourself for Certified Organic Dog Shampoo

You may be a bit surprised when you start using certified organic dog shampoo. It is very different from what you may expect in a shampoo.

The first difference you may notice is the scent. Most organic shampoos have a light herbal, berry or lemongrass scent. Another thing you will notice is that the shampoo is very thin almost watery. Be careful not to pour too much onto your dog, a little goes a long way. As you begin to work the shampoo into your dog’s coat you will notice that it does not lather like other shampoos. It will make a nice lather which is just enough to get your dog clean. You do not need a lot of bubbles to get the job done right. Furthermore, it also makes rinsing much easier and quicker.

You will need to use certified organic shampoo 3-4 times to remove all the synthetics that have built up on your dog from using non-organic shampoos. Once transformed you will feel good to now that your dog is free of synthetics from shampoo. Most of all, you will feel good about doing the best you can for your furry friend.

  1. After having two childhood pups that died young of cancer, I make sure to only use organic products on my dog. This is a really helpful article since I recently ran out of her shampoo. I considered using some of my own shampoo on her but decided to just buy her her own. Its gonna be hard to decide. I like that the 4 Legger has different formulas, so I’ll probably start with that. I’m looking at that antibacterial/anti fungal one because she often gets a rash on her belly that the vets says is bacterial.
